I have just completed a towing course with Rob at Ourimbah and I
am now feeling very confident in all aspects of hitching, towing, reversing,
knowing correct weights and loading of van etc. I was very nervous about
learning to tow but Rob is the most wonderful teacher we could have wishes
for, his clear instructions, attention to details, and never ending patience
made it easy for myself and my daughter who was with me to learn. When we
got home I reversed our van into our awful dog-leg driveway, through our
very narrow carport and onto our van slab, Rob really made all this possible
because his ability to teach and instruct is awesome!! My husband was so
surprised and pleased at our skills.Thank you Rob once again, I have sung
your praises to other friends wanting to learn. Thank you Tow-Ed for having
these courses available to newbies like us. Cheers Carol n Bec.

HI
I do not know who owns Tow-Ed but can you please make sure they get this email.
I want to say how professional, friendly and clever you all are.
We had a wonderful day with Graham on Saturday. He was an excellent representative for your company: professional, calm, polite, knowledgeable, caring.
I also have had wonderful service from Gerry when he spoke to me with advice about buying my van.
I have been telling everyone to do this course.
It is a life saver.
Will be doing the Lithgow one as soon as we can too.

Gratefully,Kathie

Excellent Trainer! Simon explained knowledge clearly and to our level of understanding. He was very down to earth & knowledgeable & I am feeling confident now in towing, considering I have never towed prior to this course.

I would highly recommend this course to others. Job well done Simon!

Hi Ricky, just wanted to thank you again for what you did for us today, I know you said it's all part of the service, but it's way above and beyond what is expected, as total novices it is invaluable to have the help and guidance of someone such as yourself, you're clearly very good at what you do and I'm sure there are lots of people out there like us that are going on trips and creating memories with their families thanks to your help, I can guarantee you that we will be sharing your Facebook page, recommending your business, and sending anyone who asks your way, do once again thankyou, and keep doing what you're doing because people like us appreciate more than you probably think, cheers

Brett

Shaun was a very competent, knowledgeable trainer and a big asset to your organisation.

Shawn shares his knowledge from his experience which is so important.

A very special thank you from both of us.

Just a quick note of thanks to you and your team for the excellent training day you staged here at CCIA on Friday 15th July

The feedback from the CCIA staff who undertook the program was exceptional, with all of them excited about the new skills they had developed and commenting on the quality of your training team.
I want to thank you so much for arranging this for us,  as well as your outstanding ongoing support and commitment to the Association

Done! We enjoyed our day with the Tow-Ed staff.

I am not sure where that feedback goes? My feedback to Tow-Ed directly would be:

I very much enjoyed the face-to-face instruction we received on the day.  Graham and Simon were knowledgeable and friendly. Their individual attention helped us learn the particularities of our vehicle-trailer setup. For instance, we had a box trailer on the day that appeared to be less manueverable than some of the caravans on the day. Graham was quick to identify this and modified his advice and instruction for us. Their sense of humour made the day enjoyable.

The only area I can see for improvement is the theme (for lack of a better word) of the course. The course is structured around towing caravans. I would not recommend changing this as it is clearly your target market. The other students/participants on the day appeared to enjoy the course. However, if you do have sufficient demand from work places, perhaps you could cater some courses (a few times a year?) around work environments? For instance, we probably spend more time driving in the crowded CBD and parking in tighter spots than caravans! That said, I do believe I learned everything I need to practice safe driving and maneuvering of the trailer in my work place.

Thanks again,

Asher

What did you enjoy the most about the course; Practicality of the course, excellent instructor. Gaining confidence to be able to tow our van.

It was wonderful to be able to have a go and for the instructor to be so helpful and encouraging.

What did you enjoy most about the course: Towing a van for the first time & gaining confidence. Fantastic! Recommend it to every caravaner. Sue M

Best Aspect of Course: To have the confidence to know what my caravan is capable of and also my vehicle, knowing I have regulations that are to be followed at all times and confidence to reverse caravan into parking space. I am looking forward to putting these skills to use and am more than grateful to Graeme our trainer.

This is just a quick note of acknowledgment and thanks; Ross and I did the Tow-Ed course recently and Adam was our instructor for the day. It really is a very worthwhile course and we are glad we did it. Unfortunately we did not have our own van on the day as we had to collect it early September in Queensland but it was still very useful. Adam was an excellent and patient instructor given that we were such novices...if Adam is representative of the calibre of your staff you must be very proud of what your firm achieves and strives for.

Adam was kind enough to give us his mobile phone number in case we needed advice on our first trip which we did. His response to our call was immediate and he was extremely helpful. Ross and I would like to acknowledge his professionalism, patience and caring manner, to your firm. Our van handover was inadequate and a disappointing start to the new venture of caravanning. So to be able to feel comfortable with calling Adam was a big plus for us.We still have lots to learn...but felt more comfortable by the end of the trip.

So this note comes with our sincere thanks to Adam and our commendation for your course.

I may be conservative but before heading out on the road with a heavy vehicle my husband and I both did the Tow Ed course, become more aware of the full combined vehicle characteristics, learned new skills and techniques and were awarded the nationally recognised competency Certificate. We both can perform all tasks associated with caravanning and share driving, reversing and other tasks equally with confidence. Apart from being a responsible road user the ability for us both to do all caravanning tasks means our RV adventures are not interrupted if one partner is not well. In addition with us both sharing the driving and set-up activities we should be able to extend our caravan trips well into old age - something all RVer's would aspire to.

I am a strong advocate for this type of training and would support a separate RV licence category that requires the completion of a nationally recognised training course - even re-testing on a 5 year basis. Of course I am probably in a small minority. Thank you again for a thought provoking article

March 2013

Cheryle and I are in the process of buying our first van. As I have not towed anything bigger than a box trailer and Cheryle has never towed anything at all, we thought that we’d sign up with Tow-Ed to learn the ropes.

We and two other couples met John, Gerard and Andrew at their training facility on a wild and wet day in Sydney. Within the hour, Cheryle was backing our Landcruiser onto the tow hitch of the tandem-axle van which was ours for the day. This she did first time!

The Tow-Ed boys really delivered! We learned to manoeuvre the van through tight obstacles, reverse it in a straight line, reverse predictably through a 360 degree arc – both left and right and do a 90 degree reverse park into a van “site” (again from both directions). Then the heart-stopping stuff – how to set up our brake controller – and use it! The first emergency stop from 60 km/h was worth the price of admission. Actually, anticlimactic in that our car and van stopped in a straight line – as expected.

To get our “wings”, we had to take the van and our newly learnt skills out onto the road and into the traffic. Cheryle went first. As an added bonus, she took the whole combo into a service station so that we could refuel.

This was a fantastic day. The Tow-Ed guys delivered on their promises. We now have the confidence to pick up our 21 foot van, tow it and park it wherever we want. The boys taught us much more, but then, you’ll have to sign up to learn that!       Cheryle and Glenn

Dear John & Julie,
My husband and I attended an all-day towing course with Graham at Horsley Park on Saturday, 4 February 2012.
We wanted to let you know how much we both enjoyed the training - Graham was not only extremely patient, but very knowledgeable, and very quickly put us as ease as we tried to master the art of reversing with a 21 foot caravan behind us!  We had previously only ever towed a 6' x 4' trailer, so the prospect of learning how to tow a large caravan was very daunting, to say the least!
It was great to learn in such a non-confronting and friendly environment.  Graham made our learning experience lots of fun, and by the end of the day, we were so pleased to have graduated!
Thank you once again for a wonderful learning experience - we would highly recommend Tow-Ed to everyone who wants to learn the finer points of towing with safety. We can't wait to put all our learning experience into practice!
With best wishes, Annette & John

Good afternoon staff at Tow-Ed,
My wife & I have just completed the caravan towing course at Horsley Park (06/01/13).
I found the course to be informative & very helpful, the instructors were very knowledgable & able to answer vitually any questions. My wife attended with the intention of standing in the background & picking up any useful information.
That never happened. Previously, the only time she had ever driven our Pajero was the day before, when she thought she better take it around the block just to familiarise herself. Never towed anything in her life.
Right from the sign on & the start of the course proceedings she became totally involved. As initially said during the course introduction, it's much easier to teach someone who has never towed than someone who may have pre-conceived ideas. Following the instructors directions she navigated her way through all obstacles, completed all driving, reversing, parking, hitching & theory. The final part of the course involved a short road trip around surrounding suburbs. Although a little apprehensive, off she went (with instructor) our new 20' Jayco in tow. Upon return she was so confident, never towed before & now in complete control. If I had tried to teach her half of the aspects covered in the course we'd probably be dividing our assets. Thank you again for providing these well structured courses, we believe this type of course should be mandatory for anyone towing a caravan. Tony & Jan

It was the best money we have ever spent on caravanning. It was the best money we have ever spent on caravanning. My wife and I recently attended your caravan towing course at Tuggerah. It was the best money we have ever spent on caravanning. I was planning a long trip and wanted my wife to be comfortable towing to give me a break. I also needed help with reversing into a site.

We went away a few days later and that first night I reversed into a tight spot, first go, in the dark with a storm about to break all because of your course.

Your instructor Graham was great! He explained everything very clearly and didn't move on until he was satisfied we had the "message". From my wife never driving with the van on she was soon reversing the van in a circle with no problems. My wife now shares at least half the driving when we travel which is a great help.

From some of the problems I see with vanning when we travel I firmly believe that a towing course such as yours should be mandatory with the purchase of every new van.
